Homeopathy
Homeopathy came into existence earlier than osteopathy - in
1796 a German doctor called Samuel Hahneman "discovered"
homeopathy and began its practice.
The word homeopathy is from the Greek meaning "similar
suffering or feeling", thus homeopathy treats by way
of the use of similars.
Homeopathic medicine is in pill, powder or tincture form
and the treatments are called remedies. They work by gently
boosting the natural energy of the body and are very safe.
There is no danger of addiction or toxicity, so they can be
given in pregnancy, and given to babies, infants and children.
At the first consultation your homeopath will ask about your
physical and emotional symptoms as well as taking a full medical
history. Then she will give you a remedy which matches your
symptoms as you experience them, and which also takes account
of you as a person.
As with osteopathic treatment, the remedies work by stimulating
the body's own healing capacity.
