Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for self-improvement and the removal of problems. Hypnosis is essentially guided meditation through which the natural power of the subconscious mind is employed to help make positive change.
Many people feel apprehensive about someone 'taking over' their consciousness, but this is not what happens. Instead, the therapist places you in a state of deep relaxation. This does not necessarily involve a swinging pendulum or the need to look deeply into the eyes of the therapist. Quite often it will just involve you closing your eyes and being guided through a sequence of muscle relaxation exercises. Once the body is deeply relaxed, the hypnotherapist can work with you in a creative way.
It is generally a short-term method of treatment and you will usually benefit from it within the first few sessions. Those people who are motivated to change have the most success.
A visit to a hypnotherapist normally takes about an hour. Most clients cannot believe how quickly the time goes, and sometimes the hour seems more like twenty minutes. This is because in the relaxed hypnotic state we are not as aware of time as we are in our normal state.
It has been shown to be effective in treating a number of issues, including:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Lack of confidence
- Anger
- Performance issues
- Unwanted habits or addictions
- Phobias
- Weight control
- Physiological issues
Testimonials
"Well thank you! First time in years I had a blood test and no fainting/drama!...More blood tests tomorrow, but I feel ready. Thanks again"
(Phobia of blood and needles)
"I had a 4 x 1 hour course of hypnotherapy for a fear of flying. I flew 5 days after my last session and it was very effective. I felt I should be fearful but the fear didn't 'reach' me, like it was on the other side of a screen."
(Fear of flying)
"It was amazing! After an hour I couldn't even believe that I had ever wanted to smoke in the first place..."
(Stop Smoking)
